Shorter Hawks down Valdosta State

ROME--The Hawks topped Valdosta State, 98-84, Saturday afternoon at home. The win, the second in a row for Shorter, improves their record to 7-8 on the season and 4-5 in the Gulf South Conference.
Brandon Pullman led the Hawks, with a game high 27 points. In addition to Pullman, four other Shorter players reached double figures. Dedric Ware added 19, Travis Jones chipped in the 16 points and 12 rebounds, Jordan Jacks recorded 14, and Kurtis Woods finished with 10.
Colin Cook and David Murray both recorded 20 points for Valdosta State, who moves to 10-4 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
The lead changed a total of 17 times during the game, with both teams fighting to keep the advantage. The Hawks went ahead for good with 8:26 to play on a free throw from Jacks, and didn't look back. During the remaining minutes, Shorter led by as many as 16.
The Hawks will be back in action Saturday, January 25, as they travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to take on former SSAC rival Lee University for the first time since the Flames joined the GSC. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm.
