Man charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct

A Decatur, Georgia man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Friday after allegedly firing a gun toward a residence on Southern Street in Rome.

According to jail records, people were standing outside the home when 40-year old Allyn Charles Franklin Jr. fired the weapon.

Franklin is a convicted felon and is also accused of breaking the door of a home on Chambers Street.

He is charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A Rome man was arrested during a traffic stop Friday on East Main Street at Cave Spring Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 28-year old Timon Davier Adams of a East 15th Street address was stopped by police because his vehicle had expired registration.

A search of the vehicle turned up more than an ounce of marijuana and a firearm that had been reported stolen.

Adams is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, felony possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving a motor vehicle with suspended, cancelled or revoked registration.
