Man arrested after 'shots fired' call Tuesday

A Euharlee, Georgia man was arrested Tuesday afternoon following reports of shots being fired in the Martha Berry Boulevard area.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 38-year old Meson Robert Lovingood shot several times into the air during an argument with another man and then fled on foot.

Lovingood dropped the firearm during a foot chase with police and was located in a wooded area with a pill bottle in his pants pocket.

The bottle contained suspected cocaine and pills.

Lovingood also had $2,000 in cash.

Once at the jail, a baggie containing suspected marijuana was found in his groin area.

Lovingood is charged with reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, discharging a firearm near a public highway, the sale of cocaine, obstruction of officers and crossing the guard line at the jail with drugs.

He also had a warrant for failure to appear in court.

A man is accused of shooting in the direction of a residence and another man is accused of having a stolen firearm.
