Report: Man on dirt bike flees from police

An Aragon man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly fleeing from Rome Police on a dirt bike.

According to Rome Police reports, an officer on bicycle patrol saw a street legal dirt bike, ridden by 23-year old Mason Edward Todd, traveling on the path at Heritage Park at a high rate of speed.

The officer caught up with the dirt bike in the parking lot of Doctor’s Weight Loss at Martha Berry and Turner McCall.

Todd saw the officer and took off down the sidewalk in front of Floyd Medical Center and eventually ended up on Avenue A.

The officer saw Todd walking up the driveway of a home.

Todd saw the officer and attempted to get back on the dirt bike and start it.

The officer tackled Todd and put him in handcuffs.

The officer sustained lacerations and abrasions while taking Todd into custody.

Todd is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, obstruction of officers, failure to maintain a lane, driving a vehicle with canceled, revoked or suspended registration, and driving without a license.

He was also charged with concealing the identity of a vehicle because the tag on dirt bike belongs to a Harley Davidson.
