Report: Man struck woman with PVC pipe

A 38-year old Rome man was arrested early Tuesday at his Pressley Street residence on a felony aggravated assault charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Morris William Parker struck the victim in the right leg with two poles of PVC pipe and then grabbed her by the throat, choking her.

Parker also reportedly took a swing at the victim and took the phone away from her and threw it across the room as she was attempting to call 911.

Parker was additionally charged with simple battery, simple assault, and obstructing a person from making a 911 call.
