Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader told WZQZ News that Jimmy “Jauan” Adams was taken into custody on Saturday evening.

Adams had been on the run from sheriff’s deputies since this past Monday when he bolted from the back of a patrol car and fled through downtown Summerville. Adams had been brought in on a misdemeanor charge resulting from an altercation with his aunt in Menlo.

Adams managed to elude law enforcement several times this past week. On Friday morning, Chief Deputy Kevin Woods found Adams sleeping in the woods off McWhorter Road near Menlo. Adams was able to get away from the chief deputy and fled into the woods. On Friday afternoon, K-9 units were out looking for Adams and deputies caught sight of him at one point, but were still unable to bring him in.

He was finally found at his father’s house off Buck Gardner Road. Sheriff Schrader said that while he was only brought in on a misdemeanor charge, Adams was on felony probation. Probation officers obtained a violation of probation warrant on Tuesday of this week after Adams had escaped custody.

Sheriff Schrader says that this is not the first time his department has dealt with Adams and “it’s not the first time he has ran from us.”

Adams is currently booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
