Police continuing investigation into body found near Cave Spring

Update:

Coroner Gene Proctor has released the identity of the woman whose body was found of highway 411 as Hope Parr. 

Parr was 32. 

Previous Story: 

A woman's body discovered Wednesday afternoon on Highway 411 near Cunningham Road has been sent to the GBI crime lab for identification and to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The coroner was dispatched to the area just before 5 p.m. after the body was discovered on the side of the road in a ditch.  

According to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, the woman could have been there in excess of 12 to 18 hours.  

According to Jerome Poole with the Floyd County Police Department, there were no obvious signs of trauma.

He added that investigators are going door to door in the area, speaking to people to see if they may have seen or heard anything.
