Inmate accused of having contraband

A 39-year old Stone Mountain man is lodged in the Floyd County Jail charged with possession of items prohibited for an inmate.

According to the arrest warrant, Cory Anthony Eugene, while an inmate at the Floyd County Prison in October of 2017, was found with a cell phone, a homemade charging unit, and an extra battery.

The items were hidden in his locker box.

The extra battery fit a second cell phone that was found in Eugene’s laundry bag.

 

Report: Woman made false statements to US Marshals

A 28-year old Rome woman was jailed Wednesday on a felony warrant charging her with false statements and writings.

According to the warrant, Precious Karen Echols of a Hardy Avenue address made false statements to investigators about having known, communicated with and/or seen two men who were being sought by the United States Marshals Southern Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Photos of both men were shown to Echols back on October 18 during an interview and she stated that she had never seen them, according to the warrant.

 

Man arrested on drug charges

Rome Police arrested a 25-year old Rome man on drug charges Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Cody Lynn Redden of a South Broad Street address possessed two Lorazepam pills and a small amount of cocaine at a location Glover Street at Pennington Avenue.

Redden is charged with possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drugs not in the original container.

 

Man facing multiple drug counts

A Rome man was transferred from the Dodge State Prison to the Floyd County Jail Wednesday to face a long list of drug charges.

According to jail records, 52-year old Alfred Duncan Mayers Jr. of a Dodd Boulevard address is charged with six counts of possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

No additional details concerning the charges were available at the jail Thursday morning.

 

Man charged with felony obstruction, meth possession

47-year old Robert Williams Mobbs of a Cave Spring Road address in Rome is lodged in the Floyd County Jail charged with felony obstruction of officers, reckless driving, possession of methamphetamine, fleeing or attempting to elude officers, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Mobbs was picked up by Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputies Wednesday at the Coffee County State Prison.

No additional details were available.

 

Woman jailed on theft, drug charges

A 35-year old Rome woman is facing multiple charges including theft by receiving stolen property in another state, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of meth with the intent to distribute.

Floyd County Jail records indicate that Rebecca Lynn Simpson of a Parris Drive address was transferred to the jail from the Emanuel Women’s Facility on Wednesday to face the local charges, which also include possession of dangerous drugs; possession of drugs not in the original container; possession of drug-related objects; giving a false name, address or date of birth to law enforcement; and possession with the intent to sell, deliver, distribute, display or provide a minor any drug-related object.
