Man charged with auto theft

A Cave Spring man turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail Wednesday on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking a motor vehicle.

According to the warrant, 25-year old Andrew Drew Osborne of a Mill Street address took a 2010 Honda Civic from a residence on Coosawattee Avenue in Rome and then refused to return it.

The vehicle is valued at $8,000.

The incident occurred on May 17, according to the warrant.

 

Report: Felon had firearm

A man already in the Floyd County Jail has been charged in connection with an incident back on July 21.

According to jail records, 21-year old Andrew Christopher Lopez was in possession of a firearm during an argument at his Flora Avenue residence.

The gun went off while several people were around.

The bullet struck the outside brick wall, causing damage.

Lopez is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and reckless conduct.

He has been jailed since September 22 on charges of affray, battery, a probation violation, possession of a controlled substance and with being a prohibited person attempting to purchase a firearm.

  

Man charged with sexual battery, simple assault

A homeless man was jailed Wednesday after he allegedly touched a woman’s buttocks and then tried to hit her with his shoe.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 64-year old Michael Albert Cobb was charged with sexual battery and simple assault in connection with the incident that occurred at a restaurant on Martha Berry Boulevard.

He was also charged with public drunk and criminal trespass.

The report states that Cobb remained on the premises after an employee told him to leave.
