One injured in Monday morning wreck

One person was injured in a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 53 between Pinson Road and Pierce Hill Road Monday morning.

According to Floyd County Police, a Honda Pilot driven by 40-year old Marie Whitlock of Rome was traveling inbound, when it left the roadway and traveled into the tree line.

Whitlock, who may have experienced a medical episode prior to the wreck, had to be extricated from the vehicle.

She was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck occurred at around 10 a.m. Monday.
