Alabama man facing charges in Bartow County

One individual has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and violent felon in possession of a pistol in Etowah County, according to Commander Randall Johnson.

Anthony Wayne Adams, 47, of Decatur, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance-crack cocaine, and violent felon in possession of a pistol.

On September 05, 2018, Glencoe Police Department Lt. Kenon McKenzie conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that ADAMS was driving. Adams was driving a vehicle that was reported stolen during an armed robbery from Bartow County, GA earlier in the day.

Adams was found in possession of a pistol, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and the wallet belonging to the victim. The pistol had been reported stolen from a burglary in Boaz. ADAMS was out on probation for burglary.

Adams was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond, and is waiting to be extradited to GA on an armed robbery warrant.

This investigation is still ongoing and the subject could face additional state and federal charges.

The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Gadsden Police Department, Glencoe Police Department, Boaz Police Department, and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms participated in the case.
