Extended hours for Blood Assurance this weekend

The Blood Assurance Rome Donor Center will extend its hours on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in anticipation of Hurricane Florence and the blood being sent to the Carolinas.

The center is the Midtown Crossing Shopping Center between Hobby Lobby and Longhorn Steaks.

At this time, Blood Assurance is asking O negative, A negative, B negative and O positive donors to give whole blood.

Donors of other blood types will be encouraged to give plasma and platelet donations, which are equally important and needed at this time as well.

Donors can schedule an appointment by calling the Rome center at 706-235-9853 or text BAGIVE to 444999.

The Cartersville Donor Center will be open on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 1 until 4 p.m. because of the expected need from Florence.

Additional donors are also needed today from 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. The Cartersville center is in the Main Street shopping center between Publix and TJ Maxx.
