Man charged with aggravated assault

A 33-year old Rome man is facing aggravated assault charges after he allegedly tried to choke a woman at the Sunrise Inn and Suites on Martha Berry Highway.

According to the arrest warrant, Myron Dewayne Reid of Perkins Street put his hands around the victim’s neck in an attempt to strangle her back on April 26.

He also allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle and remained there, resulting in an additional charge of criminal trespass.

Reid is also charged with 2nd-degree criminal damage to property after reportedly breaking a window in the hotel room.

Reid was arrested Monday.
