Three teens tried to steal an elderly Seattle woman’s car at gunpoint on Saturday but realized too late that none of them knew how to operate the car's stick shift.
Nancy Fredrickson, 70, was returning home after buying a sleeping bag at a local garage sale. She was unloading it from her trunk when she noticed the would-be thieves, one of whom allegedly pointed a gun in her face.
Fredrickson said one of the teens got ahold of her keys and the rest of the group climbed into the car, ready to make their escape. But they weren’t able to drive away.
“I got a 5-speed in there, and they couldn’t figure out how to get it going,” Fredrickson said.
Though the suspects escaped, police were able to take fingerprints from the car and retrieve DNA and fiber evidence as well.
