How To Be More Productive At Work

EMPLOYEES ARE MORE PRODUCTIVE WHEN ALLOWED TO TAKE BREAKS ON THEIR SMARTPHONES: Smartphones can be a huge distraction, so it's rather surprising new research finds that employees who are allowed to play around on their smartphones daily could actually benefit businesses. To find this, researchers surveyed 72 workers and also monitored the participants' smartphone use. Researchers found a positive relationship between using smartphones to take short breaks for things like texting friends and how employees felt by the end of the workday. One researcher says, "If [employees] are happy with social activities and employers know that, they may want to use the phone for those purposes during microbreaks... I'm interested in knowing how microbreak activities can facilitate both well-being and work engagement." Researchers found on average, workers used their phone during the work day for about 20 minutes, which is the perfect amount of time for it to benefit both the employee and the business. (Mashable)
